How First Responders, Case Managers, Caretakers, and Donors Can Help Us Reach Veterans in New Mexico

When a veteran is facing severe housing instability, mental health struggles, or complex personal crises such as suicidal ideation, finding a comprehensive resource to turn to can be a challenge in our state. First responders, peer support specialists, street outreach teams, caretakers, and community case managers are often the first to encounter veterans in need, but they may not know about "The VIC" or whether we can assist.

Headquartered in Albuquerque, the New Mexico Veterans Integration Centers (VIC) provide the structured stability veterans need to rebuild their lives—and veterans do not need to reside in, or move to, Albuquerque to receive our help.

Referring Veterans in Crisis

Outreach workers, law enforcement, healthcare navigators, Certified Peer Support Workers (CPSWs), and community members can refer veterans to the VIC for a full spectrum of wrap-around services designed to address both immediate needs and long-term stability:

• Multiple Housing Options: From emergency housing to transitional housing assistance and supportive housing programs.

• Mental Health Counseling: On-site professional support tailored to address trauma, service-related stress, suicidal ideation, and other acute crises.

• Food Pantry & Basic Needs: Open every Friday, our Food Pantry provides food boxes for Veterans and their families at our Albuquerque headquarters.

• Life Skills & Benefit Navigation: Hands-on assistance with VA benefits, financial literacy, and independent living skills.

To support these critical areas, we operate specialized funding initiatives and programs including the SSG Fox SPGP, SSVF, Veterans Transition and Reentry, and Veterans Transitional Housing programs, fully backed by dedicated Case Management, Peer Support, and comprehensive wrap-around services.

Please note: We are not a detox center or shelter. Our programs are focused on helping veterans to achieve long-term stability.
