Hosting Hope & Vision: The National Coalition for Homeless Veterans Visits NMVIC

This week, the New Mexico Veterans Integration Centers had the honor of hosting the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans (NCHV) for their quarterly national board of directors meeting right here in Albuquerque. With our own CEO serving as an active NCHV board member, welcoming this dedicated group of advocates from many different states to our New Mexico campus and community was a privilege.

While their schedule was anchored by a forward-looking strategy session to shape national support systems for Veterans, our guests also experienced the very best of New Mexico. Between meetings, the board took in the awe-inspiring sight of the International Balloon Fiesta, witnessed a traditional Native American buffalo dance, enjoyed delicious local New Mexican cuisine, and soaked up our beautiful autumn weather.

A highlight of the visit was guiding the NCHV leadership on an in-depth tour of our Mulberry Street campus. The team walked through our daily operations, viewed our transitional housing setup, and learned more about our long-term growth plans to expand services across New Mexico.

About the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans

The National Coalition for Homeless Veterans is the leading national organization working to end Veteran homelessness. NCHV serves as a vital bridge between community-based service providers, government agencies, and policymakers.

  • Advocacy & Policy: They work directly on Capitol Hill to secure resources, shape national policy, and ensure federal programs effectively serve Veterans in need.

  • Provider Support: NCHV delivers technical assistance, training, and capacity-building resources to hundreds of local organizations nationwide.

  • Collective Impact: By uniting community leaders across the country, NCHV helps establish best practices for housing stability, employment assistance, and comprehensive care.

We are deeply grateful for the guidance, partnership, and national advocacy NCHV provides every day. Hosting their board was a wonderful opportunity to show how local community support directly translates into real-world stability for the Veterans we serve.
