Celebrating Community & Country: A Look Back at Our America’s 250th BBQ Party

Albuquerque came alive with patriotic pride last Thursday, July 2nd, as the New Mexico Veterans Integration Centers (NMVIC) hosted our America’s 250th BBQ Party at Kirtland Park.  From 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the park was filled with families, veterans, neighbors, and supporters joining together to kick off the holiday weekend early with great food and even better company. 

Our goal was simple: provide a safe, welcoming, and high-energy space for our community to celebrate together while shining a light on the support networks available to local veterans and their families. Thanks to everyone who showed up with an appetite and an incredible patriotic spirit, the afternoon was an absolute success. 

Lawn Games, Face Painting, and BBQ Favorites.

The atmosphere was perfectly tailored for families. Children and parents alike dove into a variety of classic lawn games, while our talented face painter brought happy smiles to the kids. Of course, no proper summer kick-off is complete without an authentic backyard spread. Our team served up classic BBQ favorites, keeping the grills hot and ensuring no one left hungry. We also had two food trucks serving delicious dishes.

More Than a Cookout: Connecting with Our Mission 

Beyond the food and festivities, this event served as a critical touchpoint for our veteran outreach. NMVIC team members were on hand throughout the day, providing vital information about our comprehensive veteran housing, stabilization, and integration programs. Events like this dismantle barriers to access, allowing veterans who might need a hand to connect with us in a relaxed, low-pressure environment.
