A Legacy of Giving: NMVIC Named Secondary Beneficiary of the Historic 2026 Montezuma Ball

We are thrilled to share some incredible news with our community! The New Mexico Veterans Integration Centers (NMVIC) has been officially selected as a secondary beneficiary for the prestigious 2026 Montezuma Ball.  

This honor marks a pivotal moment for our organization. Not only will this partnership help fund our vital, day-to-day veteran support programs this year, but it also sets the stage for our future: NMVIC will transition to become the lead beneficiary for the 2027 Montezuma Ball. This unique, multi-year model ensures sustainable, long-term support so we can continue expanding our reach to New Mexico’s heroes.  

Over a Century of Philanthropic Tradition

The Montezuma Ball is one of New Mexico’s oldest and most storied charitable traditions. Its roots date back to 1902, when it began as a premier highlight of the social season during the New Mexico Territorial Fair at the historic Alvarado Hotel.   Though the original era concluded in 1968, Heritage Hotels & Resorts proudly revived the tradition in 2000 to celebrate the opening of the Alvarado Ballroom at Hotel Albuquerque. Today, it stands as a cornerstone of New Mexico’s philanthropic community, having raised millions of dollars to uplift the crucial missions of local nonprofits.  

What This Means for New Mexico's Veterans

Every dollar raised through this historic partnership goes right back into our community. It means expanding our "Housing First" and "No Wrong Door" initiatives, ensuring that when a veteran reaches out for help, they are met with immediate, individualized support.

From emergency housing and mental health support to food assistance and case management, this support allows us to expand our reach and ensure that no veteran facing homelessness in New Mexico is left behind."  

An Evening of "Formal Elegance"

Taking place at Hotel Albuquerque, the 2026 Montezuma Ball promises to be an unforgettable evening centered around community impact. The night will feature:  

• A cocktail hour and gourmet dinner crafted by Chef Gilbert Aragon.  

• A live auction and an inspiring program highlighting the work of this year's beneficiaries.  

• The traditional after-party and dancing to celebrate a collective investment in New Mexico's future.
