COVID-19 RESPONSE & TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF VIC OFFICES

Updated: Mar 28, 2022

VIC Offices were closed from June 1-June 3, 2020

On May 31, 2020, VIC management were altered to a possible secondary exposure to COVID-19. VIC managers and staff were quickly alerted, and the decision was made to close VIC offices (including the Food Pantry) during the first week of June for sanitation and testing in case of possible exposure.

As of June 3, 2020, All VIC Residents, including vital Staff members, were tested and all test results have come back as Negative, and all services and programs are back to normal operations. This includes all Housing programs, Food Pantry and Donations Department.

The VIC has been following guidelines issued by the NM Department of Health and Governor. Early on during the start of pandemic, safety measures were put into place: all clients and visitors were given hand sanitizer before entering our buildings, and we began to use social distancing in our offices. When the Public Health Order was issued requiring every New Mexican to wear a mask in public, we issued masks to staff and clients alike, and signs were posted informing visitors of the new mandate.

The VIC will continue to enforce the Public Health order and require all clients and visitors to wear a face covering, and use hand sanitizer before entering our offices or property. Anyone experiencing COVID symptoms are asked to stay home. If a client or visitor does not have a mask, one will be provided before entry. Social distancing is also being enforced on all properties as we continue to provide all services to those in need during these difficult times.

Please remember our Veterans in need and thank you for support our mission to end Veteran Homelessness.
