Criteria for admission includes:

  • Must be an Honorably Discharged Veteran of any branch of the Armed Services of the United States of America.
  • Applicants must be clean and sober for at least 28 days and may be required to submit to pre-placement drug screen. They should also have a recovery plan in place that includes weekly attendance at, drug / alcohol outpatient support groups either through the VA, HCH Outreach Program, Alcoholics Anonymous, or mental health program.
  • Applicants must lack fixed and regular permanent housing.
  • Applicants should be medically and mentally stable enough to live safely in a community living setting.
  • Applicants must be willing to actively search for employment within the first 30 days of residency, or if on a disability be willing to engage in constructive daily activities. All residents must be willing to transition to an independent living situation within two years.
  • NMVIC is an Alcohol and Drug Free Environment. No Exceptions.
  • Must be willing to submit to drug & alcohol testing.
  • Must have proof of Insurance to bring personal vehicle on to the campus.

Program Policy

  • It is the policy of the NMVIC to provide services to veterans on a voluntary basis and in a caring environment with structure and discipline to encourage continued success. Services are provided with respect, consideration and dignity for the individual veteran and their rights.
  • The New Mexico Veterans Integration Centers (NMVIC) is a 2 year transitional program that will assist homeless veterans or those at risk of becoming homeless to integrate back into community life.
  • NMVIC is committed to providing adequate supportive services to make the transition successful. The facility empasizes values such as trust, dignity, honor, self worth and respect for other people.
